Zimbabwe: Mugabe torturers confess as Church starts quest for reconciliation

Jan Raath in Chitungwiza
Harry is a former torturer. He is also at the heart of an experiment to bring peace and reconciliation to Zimbabwe.Ten months ago, in the bloody run-off to the Zimbabwean presidential elections, he was a commander of a torture base for President Mugabe's Zanu (PF) party in the sprawling township of Chitungwiza, 20 miles (30km) south of Harare.

It's extremely sad what is going on over there. how could one forgive someone responsible for such acts of horror? But if we are going to progress it's only with an attitude of forgiveness and reconciliation that will get us there. But it cant just be ignored without any consequence what took place. Good post.

I feel MDC has failed the People of Zimbabwe. There is clear evidence that the criminal acts of ZANU intimidation, asaults, murder and theft of private property continue unabated. It is clear also that MDC is unable to stop ZANU and it's clear MDC have no will to stop them. It's time to form another party to represent the people of Zimbabwe. One cannot forgive a snake (ZANU) for eating it's prey, it's the nature of the beast. It has to be either captured and returned to the bush and if it comes back again because it's developed an apetite for human flesh, it must be imprisoned for life or killed. I think hanging for murders is the only solution. It will send out a signal that no government is above the law. Hitler's men went this way. So should Mugabe's.
